ARTIST BIO

I have been interested in urban design and landscape since a child. My early fascination with maps corresponded to early mark making inspired by maps, topography, legends and aerial depictions. This developed into the use of a bold colour palette often used by map makers to delineate sections, contours and geology. Over time I experimented with a range of techniques and enjoy pushing expected techniques and materials to their limits. Often referred to as having a natural aesthetic, my works use various media, most often paint, textiles and photography.

For many years 'art' has been a part time expression of the places I loved. Traditionally in photography and embroidery, at the end of the second covid lockdown I refound my love of landscape painting.

Through work I was involved in 'Now and Then' for ABC open and curated two exhibitions in Warrnambool Art Gallery that looked at past influences in modern times. Exhibition highlights include being selected as one of 40 images nationwide displayed at the Museum of Sydney for the ABC Open Now and Then Project. My work was shown at the Warrnambool Art Gallery. I have entered previous Swiss/Italian Festa Landscape Award Exhibitions, and been awarded first prize in the Daylesford Small Art Prize.  My work was chosen for reproduction for the Managing Director of the ABC’s Christmas card in 2007.  I have provided over 70,000 images to the National Library of Australia TROVE database via the Flickr portal.

I am honoured to be a finalist in the 2022 Harden Art Prize. https://hardenartprize.org/2022-finalists/
