Electric Dreams by Janice Brown

Features

ARTIST NOTES: My first work on canvas with watercolours. This image is based on a photographer’s capture of the southern lights in Tasmania. This natural phenomenon is at its peak in Winter and is truly a sight to see. This piece took some time and patience to fulfil the desired outcome. It has been finalised using adhesive spray to protect its image. This is one of my personal favourites because I didn’t use any pencil or other materials to line it up with. Totally by hand in every form and it is amazing to see this art piece backlit. It takes it to another dimension. Completed with a handcrafted wooden floating frame and is ready to hang to enliven in any room.

ARTIST BIO

After years of raising children whilst studying and working as a Primary School teacher in NSW, I needed a change due to the pandemic crisis in 2020.

The decision to take all my long service leave proved successful for me because it was then, that I discovered my love of visual drawing and painting. Starting off with watercolour and mixed media to now becoming engaged in canvas and acrylic work.

This self-taught journey was the start to research into my own small art business (Sydney InSights). Now, I can provide the balance of doing what I love, teaching students of other languages English (at a private college) and experiment with all forms of visual art amd photography. I have an interest in being resourceful too, so some of my work features reusable products to bring into my art.

In 2021, my new art venture, 'Sydney InSights' began, and as they say, I've never looked back. Fast forward to 2022, my first gallery acceptance at the 'Boomer Gallery' in London in February with -'Under the Sea', as well as, the launch of my own website, www.sydneyinsights.com.au. Working through other platforms like Gallery247, I hope to share the love, artwork and inspiration which I found, with others.

Currently, as of in June 2022, I received notice that I am a finalist in the small business local awards of Sydney's lower north shore (August) and also a finalist in the national business awards, 'Champions' (September). I am pretty thrilled and very delighted.
